Kiwi Superfoods Blackcurrant Skin Extract is full of Anthocyanins.
Anthocyanins may support Eye Health and vision, improved brain function and health and improved muscle recovery times. It may also support improved circulation, lower blood pressure and gut health.
Blackcurrants and their anthocyanins reduce the effects of oxidative stress and are taken by several high-performance sports teams.
Anthocyanins give blackcurrants their dark colour and act as powerful antioxidants. Blackcurrants contain more anthocyanins than any other commercially available fruit or vegetable. New Zealand’s pristine conditions and mineral-rich environment plus its elevated exposure to UV light results in blackcurrants with higher anthocyanin content than fruit that is grown in other areas.
Blackcurrants also have a high level and complex mix of flavonoids, phytochemicals and polyphenolics, all shown to have their own positive health benefits. It is in this area some of the most exciting recent discoveries about Blackcurrants have been made.
We now know some blackcurrant varieties from New Zealand contain cGP which normalises Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1). Low levels of cGP are linked with many neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's and Strokes. It keeps your brain young! This perhaps explains the feedback we get from some customers ... of them feeling sharper and experiencing an uplift in mood;
“...I am weaning off my antidepressants that I've been on for years and I am feeling terrific! So, that combined with hardly any hot flushes anymore is honestly fantastic, I can't thank you enough. You don't realise how much it means to me to be off the AD's! Please share my story to anyone but keep me anonymous.”
One daily dose of Blackcurrant Skin Extract (2 capsules) takes over 90grams of fresh blackcurrants to produce and delivers 200mg of anthocyanins and 400mg of Vitamin C.
Please note:Always read the label and use as directed. Vitamins and minerals are supplementary to and not a replacement for a balanced diet. If symptoms persist, see your healthcare professional.

Eye Health:

Clarity of vision or how well defined you can see an image, and night vision may be improved through the consumption of anthocyanins.
Improved Brain Health and Function:
Anthocyanins and other flavonoids are thought to work by inhibiting neuroinflammation, activating synaptic signaling, and improving blood flow to the brain.4 It appears that some dietary anthocyanins can cross the blood-brain barrier, allowing the compounds to have a direct beneficial effect.3 2 7See ‘Our Story’ for more. Exciting new research from Auckland University has confirmed the neuroprotective qualities of blackcurrants.
Muscle recovery and Immune Protection:
Research has found that blackcurrants boost the natural benefits of exercise, by reducing muscle damage and soreness and assisting immune protection. These benefits are backed by scientific data showing speedier tissue repair, recovery, and performance in exercise. So train harder... train longer!
Longevity:
Here’s a great link to a BBC article discussing some of the possible longevity and mental health benefits from anthocyanins: BBC Link.
Improved circulation and lower blood pressure:
Clinical trials with blackcurrants have shown that they can aid in the reduction of high blood pressure as well as increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol and decrease LDL(“bad”) cholesterol.

My son took 2 capsules of Kiwi Superfoods Blackcurrant daily for a month, to help with his rugby. He found that it helped with his post match recovery, and his Bronco times improved quite a lot. He also stayed illness free during the coldest and wettest part of the season ??

I have been using Kiwi Superfoods Blackcurrant capsules for more than 2 years now, and I wouldn't be without them. They are a very high quality product, with an anthocyanin content right at the top. They have a minimum of 100 mg of anthocyanins per capsule, which is as good as you can buy. I love the effects that they have on my mood and mental health, my skin, my energy levels, my night driving vision, my blood pressure, and I also believe that they have helped reduce a few varicose veins.
